Pioneer Day 2010

On Saturday July 24th we celebrated Pioneer Day. Pioneer Day is a huge holiday in Utah, some say its even celebrated more than the 4th of July. There were tons of Festivals to choose from. We ended up choosing to go to the Pioneer Day Extraveganza in Provo which is about 20 minutes from our home in Cedar Hills. It was packed, but lots of fun. They had tons of Pioneer Day activities as well as lots of interesting facts about the Pioneers that made the long journey from the East to the West.
After the Festival we headed to CPK for some pizza and on the way home we stopped and bought some fireworks to end the holiday. We were a little nervous lighting off the firewroks because it gets so windy by our house because we live at the mouth of American Fork Canyon but all of our neighbors were doing it so we figured it must be ok. We only set off a few fireworks and decided to call it quits and let the neighbors burn the neighborhood down. I guess growing up in So. California in SCV with all of the fire hazards at this time of year we were more cautious especially since we live so close to the moutains. We had a great day really enjoyed celebrating our first Pioneer Day here in Utah.
